How much detailing really costs in Łódź

You check detailing pricing in Łódź. One studio quotes ceramic coating at 800 złoty, another at 3500. Both are probably telling the truth — they’re just doing entirely different things.

It’s worth understanding what you’re paying for. Because in this industry, the price “for ceramic coating” without context tells you nothing.

What goes into an 800-złoty coating

Short version: the coating. Just the application. No correction, no thorough decontamination, no paint thickness check. The car is washed quickly, wiped, and the product is applied to whatever is there.

The effect is temporary — the coating lasts a few months, not years. All the holograms and minor scratches that were there before the service are still there, only now sealed under a thin layer of silica. When that comes off, you can’t “fix” it without full correction.

This price makes sense in one case: when the paint is in perfect condition, straight from the dealer, and you want quick hydrophobicity for months. For every other situation it’s a bad investment.

What goes into a 3000-złoty coating

Three days of one person’s work at one workstation:

Day one — multi-stage wash. Foam, rinse, hand wash with two buckets. Chemical decontamination (iron remover for fallout, a product for tar). Mechanical decontamination with a clay bar. After this stage, everything that had anchored itself in the paint over the years is gone.

Day two — single-stage correction. Paint thickness measurement on each panel before starting. Polishing section by section, checking under inspection lights after each. Removing holograms, minor scratches, dulling. After this stage the car looks like new from the factory — even without a coating.

Day three — degreasing the paint (so the coating can bond), coating application section by section, uniformity check under lights, curing. Detailing edges and hard-to-reach spots.

The price of 3000 złoty includes 20-30 hours of human work, materials (a class ceramic coating is a cost of several hundred złoty just for the product), equipment amortization, rent, electricity for inspection lighting. This is not margin. This is real cost.

Where “premium” pricing of 4000-5000 comes from

Usually from one of three reasons.

Higher-class coating. Coatings labeled 9H or “graphene” cost us as a studio two to three times more than standard. Declared durability is longer, hardness higher. Whether it’s worth it — depends on the car and whether you plan to keep it 5+ years.

Premium car. Detailing a Porsche 911 is not the same amount of work as detailing a Golf. More edges, more difficult spots, higher customer expectations for detail.

Studio brand. In this business there are known studios that people drive to from Warsaw to Łódź (or the other way), because they have a name. Their price includes that name.

What we specifically do

Basic ceramic coating for a mid-class car (Golf, Focus, Octavia) — full process, three days. This is the standard from which we start the conversation.

For smaller cars (Fiesta, Yaris, Polo) — a bit less work. For larger ones (SUV, wagon, premium) — more.

We give prices only after inspection. Without seeing the car and looking at the paint under inspection lights, nobody can honestly quote you ceramic. That’s why we first invite you for a 20-minute meeting at the studio, during which we measure the paint and show you its condition. Only then do we say: “for yours it will be X, and it will take Y days”.

How not to get scammed

Three questions worth asking any detailing studio:

Do you measure paint thickness before correction? Honest answer: “yes, on every panel”. Answer “no” or “on selected ones” means they work by eye.

Can I see your workshop before deciding? Honest answer: “yes, book a time”. Evasive answer means the workshop isn’t presentable.

How long does ceramic last? Honest answer: “2-5 years in real conditions, depends on use”. Answer “9 years warranty” means they’re advertising the manufacturer’s declaration, not real durability.

Detailing isn’t rocket science. Knowledge of what an honest quote looks like makes all the difference.
